I’ve had this word on my heart for a bit, and now that we’re approaching the end of this year and looking forward to the start of a new one, it seems to be a good time to share it.
These last couple months have been a whirlwind of activity for us here at Kingdom Ministries. Although we’ve not posted here, we’ve been very busy in our area doing ministry work, keeping up with jobs and home life, raising our awesome kids, and doing all the things that the holiday season brings. We’re so thankful that God has used us for His glory despite ourselves.
As events and errands were ticked off the to-do list, life seemed to slowly be settling down to something like normal. Then one child fell sick, shortly followed by the other. Nothing too serious, but with a fever, it hinders family events because you want to share holiday cheer not germs. Then I took sick, waking up on Christmas day with a bad fever as well.
“This doesn’t sound like a joyful end-of-the-year message at all” you might say. The truth is that it wouldn’t be if it weren’t for God’s mercies. We could sit and wallow in all the things that have gone wrong, and sometimes it is good to get it off your chest to a trusted individual. But we MUST remember what Lamentations 3:22-23 says,
“The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is His faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.”
If you know the Biblical account of Noah’s Ark, you’ll remember that God placed a rainbow in the sky as a sign that He would never again flood the earth. It was a reminder to all those thereafter who saw a rainbow that God had shown mercy to Noah and his family, and that He would continue to show mercy throughout the rest of time. Though it may not seem like it in the moment, even God’s judgment and discipline is a mercy. A Father corrects the children He loves.
So when we get up in the morning and see a sunrise like the one pictured above or one where we see all the colors of God’s creation, we can remember that we have been given a whole new day full of brand new mercies from God. And God is so good, we know that His mercies certainly don’t go stale, but He wants us to have His freshest mercies made just for that day.
Let’s go one step further: have you ever seen a sunset? With a clear view of the sky in some areas around our home, a sunset often looks like an upside down rainbow with all the same colors. It’s not a signal that His mercies for that are over but that they’ll be carrying us through the night until the dawn of the next day.
What about a sunrise or sunset like this?

Maybe the day is cloudy and it’s hiding the light of the sun. Clouds can often mean rain or cold or something else thats undesirable or inconvenient. But it doesn’t mean the sun isn’t there. In the same way, it doesn’t mean God’s mercy isn’t there. Sometimes life gets in the way and it’s hard for us to see it.
He’s still carrying you.
And maybe the clouds of your life will give an opportunity for the light to reflect in ways that make others or even ourselves look and say “wow, God made something really beautiful from that”. Perhaps the clouds in your sky will aid the presence of a rainbow in someone else’s and God’s mercies will be seen anew.
These last several years have been tough for our family and many other families as well. Many of us have experienced loss and illness, grief and hardship. But if we’ll look with honest eyes, His mercies have held us through it all. Theyve not gone stale over the course of 2025. But He’s still so good to give us brand new mercies everyday of 2026.
Psalm 113:3 “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.”
From our Kingdom Ministries family to yours, be blessed in this new year.
