Plan of Salvation

The Gospel (meaning the Good News of Jesus) has been made to be far more complicated than it actually is. It’s as easy as turning away from sin and turning to God.

1) If we believe that God is Creator of all then we must recognize that He has the right to set a standard (the rules we should live by). His standard is perfection, and this is a standard of which we have ALL fallen short. Romans 3:23 NLT says “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”

2)Romans 6:23 NLT says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of salvation is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” We cannot go back and undo our sin (anything that misses the mark/target). In the Old Testament, God instituted the sacrifice of animals to “cover” or pay for the sin debt of the people. The blood represented life. There has only ever been One Who walked this earth, and was perfect and that was the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Jesus was and still is the perfect sacrifice to save us from our sin. It is by His blood we are saved.

3)To be saved means you admit you are a sinner, repent (or turn away from) of your sins, and recognize Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9 NLT says, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

If you haven’t made Jesus you’re Lord and Savior, and if you’re ready to make that commitment or recommitment today, then simply follow the steps above. Have a conversation with the Lord about your sin and your need for Him to wash you clean. Repent of your sins and turn from them, and recognize Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life. Ask Him to give you His blessed assurance of where you’ll spend eternity.

If you’ve done this, welcome to the family of God! You’re saved!

Now what? Start reading His Word (you’ll understand more and more as you go), actively develop a prayer life, and find a good Bible teaching church and get plugged in to discipleship. Start creating new habits as God continues to show you what needs to change in your life and serve Him along the new journey you’ve just begun.

You may still have many questions about how to walk in a relationship with Jesus, and that’s ok! Just follow along according to His Word and as Holy Spirit leads you, and He will guide you as you go.

We would love to hear from you! If you’ve accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, send us an email and we will give you some resources to help you along your walk with Christ.
